Warm-up in White County – Winter Gift Basket

Congratulations to Erin Elpers of Fort Wayne, IN.

The Enjoy White County Visitor Center hosted their first bi-annual social media gift basket campaign during the month of February. With an additional nine community partners, the gift basket is valued at over $200 and is stocked full of warm and cozy winter necessities!

Inside the basket you will find coffee beans and a mug generously donated by Greens & Beans, GoodLife Nutrition provided an at-home tea with boost plus gift card, a cozy and fashionable hat and gloves were donated by Necessities, Le Petit Café contributed a free soup and sandwich gift card, from Whyte Horse Winery you’ll find a bottle of Jingles and a mulled wine spices kit, Crafts Unlimited Gifts gave a cute hot cocoa mix with travel mug set, from Ship N Dip you will find a huge, warm Lake Shafer blanket and fuzzy slippers, Merle Norman generously contributed a scarf and free facial gift certificate, and the White County Economic Development Corporation donated a wine opening gift set and the large travel tote to fit all of these goodies into! Once again, our community showcases its generosity!

To qualify, community members were asked to answer the question, “What is your favorite White County memory?” and tag two friends. Only one submission was valid per social media platform (one on Facebook, one on Instagram).

Erin Elpers won the gift basket with her submission of Whyte Horse Winery memories with friends. Erin is from Fort Wayne, Indiana but often visits the Monticello area and has made friends with local community members. The Enjoy White County Visitor Center is thrilled that this basket is going to an actual tourist. Congratulations, Erin!

Of the 60 participants, 25% mentioned something about Indiana Beach, 18% noted a memory on the lakes, and 13% favored 4-H fair pastimes. Other notable comments highlighted local parades, Whyte Horse Winery, Lake Shore Drive-In Theater, and personal wedding experiences.  These responses are excellent for local testimonials as visitors ask what makes White County so unique and special.

The importance of tagging two friends is to expand awareness of the Enjoy White County campaign. During the gift basket campaign, we were averaging one new follower per day. For a Facebook profile that is 3 years old and only posts 3-4 times a week, that is an excellent improvement! The Enjoy White County Instagram profile increased the audience by 27.1%.

Stay tuned for details about an Enjoy White County Summertime Basket when things heat up!
